Trillium rivale 'Roseum'

A very small species from the mountains of southern Oregon. Grows well in a pot and as a consequence I have been able to keep it alive (I have an inauspicious history with Trillium). Pink flowers with abundant purple spots (there is also a clear pink flowered form).

Case and Case say:

"One or two horticultural names have been applied to collected forms, mostly with a great amount of the dark, madder-purple speckling. These forms, while offered for sale, have not, to our knowledge, been formally named botanically.
To see this lovely plant in the wild is to experience one of the great thrills of plant exploring. Not only has the plant itself beauty and charm, but the beauty of coastal redwoods or at higher elevations, rugged scenery, ... is a setting not to be forgotten.
Certainly this beautiful species has great garden appeal, especially in the rock garden. ... While in the wild it withstands almost yearly seasonal drought, in cultivation (at least in the United Kingdom) it appreciates a moist, but not wet substrate."
