Trollius x cultorum 'Lemon Queen'

A pale yellow flowered cultivar. I have seen it growing vigorously in Scotland and hoped that it would do well in the herbaceous border but if struggled weakly and then expired.

Hardys Cottage Garden Plants say:

"Trollius is one of the delights of a late spring garden never failing to raise a smile on a cold grey day. In our opinion ‘Lemon Queen’ is one of the best on the market with delicate lemon yellow globe flowers that float on willowy stems above divided green foliage.
Bred back in the 1920s, this graceful cottage garden stalwart is prized as much for its reliability as its elegant looks. A good candidate for a bog garden as it prefers a moist soil in either sun or partial shade, it combines brilliantly with blues, purples and whites but looks stunning on its own if allowed to develop into large clumps. Regular deadheading helps to keep the floral display going. "
