A spectacular dark flowered cultivar. I bought them from a garden centre and grew them for a year for effect. Registered by K.Keur and sons in 1937, the KAVB register says: "Exterior deep purple; inside blackish purple." J. Parkers say: "This deeply coloured cultivar boasts large, flared heads with intricately feathered edges. Each petal twists and turns artistically, boasting a rich and velvety black. Tulip Black Parrot is hard to ignore and sure to impress through spring. Each flower head sits on a tall sturdy stem, surrounded by lance-shaped foliage. Tulips like to be planted late in October and November with the colder weather." |
