A soft pink "triumph" tulip producing elegant flowers on strong stems that last well. I bought a handful of
bulbs almost by accident (they were reduced) but I have been very impressed. The KAVB says it was registered in 1999 by J. A. Borst Bloembollen. The description says: "Inside: bottom ivory white (CC 155A) with a light golden yellow (CC 158A) spot in the middle. Petal Indian red lacquer (CC 58A) on an ivory-coloured white (CC 155A) background. Anthers ivory white (CC 155D) with a primrose yellow (CC 2D) glow. Pollen buttercup yellow (CC 12A). Style Kropslagroen (CC 144A). Stamp approx. lemon yellow (CC 151D). Exterior: basic ivory white (CC 155B). Petal Indian red lacquer (CC 58A) on an ivory white (CC 155B) background. The outer petals are slightly darker in colour. Stem green with slightly anthocyanin on the underside; turned. Leaf green." Sarah Raven says: "Another incredible new tulip which is a beautiful smoky pink, washed over a silvery-grey which looks wonderful with soft coloured Iceland poppies and pale, silky tulips such as ' La Belle Epoque' and 'Groenland'. This variety is sometimes called ‘Mistress Grey’." |
