It's not a great advert for the discernment with which I plant the garden but they were incredibly cheap and made a bright show in the spring. Pheasant Acre plants say: "Toronto is a Division 14 – Greigii tulip. This reliable sturdy readily naturalising variety has coral red flowers with a pale green streak down the spine of each petal. It is ideal planted in containers, at the front of borders or distributed in rockeries. Its grey-green foliage is mottled and striped. Its qualities have been recognised with the award of the RHS Award of Garden Merit." Registered by Uittenbogaard and Sons in 1963, the description says: "Exterior jasper red tinged on vermilion; inside tangerine red, base bronzy green on buttercup yellow, anthers bronze. Leaves mottled." |
