A new hybrid selected by Paul Barney at Edulis as a seedling in 2003. Tall flower spikes with compact heads of lilac flowers that have short pedicels.
The corona starts greenish and then changes to brown as the flower matures. Flowers are darker than my pictures show. The Edulis catalogue entry says: "Our selection from some seedlings we found at the NCCPG stand at Wisley in 2003. Delightful evening scent of cloves and continuously flowering erect flower spikes with gorgeous deep plummy colour. May till October. Ht 30cm." An AGS diary entry for 16th September 2024 says: "It was named for King Moshoeshoe 1 (1786 – 1870) who was the founder and first King of Lesotho. It is known as the Kingdom in the sky, as all the country is over 1000m above sea level." |
