The gentle confusion that laps at the beach of Tulbaghia taxonomy sometimes strands a puzzle on the tideline.
I would be quite content to say that this was wrongly named, but the corona does form a sort of white star,
so I am puzzled. It is possible that there is a good description of the cultivar out there, and it is possible
that I will find it! Large individual flowers and a strong constitution make it a good plant. I bought it from Beeches Nursery and their label says: "Bulbous perennial with strong onion smelling, strap like leavs. Airy sprays of starry soft lilac-pink flowers with a distinct white splash down the centre of each petal in a star like fashion. Flowers all summer. Very sheltered spot in sun (6-9). 40cm." |
