I couldn't resist this lovely variegated bulrush when I saw it at a local retailer of pond plants. The broad white striped foliage is followed by white striped
flower heads. At the moment it is managing in a bucket, but it will grow rapidly and I may come to regret it.
Devon Pond Plants say:
"Typha latifolia variegata is the variegated cultivar of greater reed mace and is a godsend, since it is far less vigorous than the plain green species and the strong white and green variegation lasts all season.
It does still have the sharp shoots/roots but isn’t going to take over your pond. It’s actually quite slow to multiply and is hence more expensive.
The cleanly variegated stripy leaves are very architectural and don’t have that artificial look that blights some variegated plants."
