Ugni molinae 'Butterball'

A decorative form with pale new growth. It is equally good at producing berries and doesn't have to depend on its innate beauty to be planted, which is fortunate.
There is a story going around that the cultivar has yellow fruits. Presumably it is based on the name 'Butterball'. It is not true.

Cross Common Nursery say:

"This plant has such pretty buttery yellow foliage which has pinky orange tips when young. Small pink flowers in early summer are followed by dark red edible fruits which reputedly taste like strawberries! The flowers smell like candy floss! This plant is best grown in sun in well drained soil. "
