Vanda cristata is a close relative of V. alpina that grows over a similar range through the Himalayas but possibly occurring at higher altitudes
and extending it's range from southern China to the lower mountains of the Tibet Autonomous Region.
I am hoping that V. alpina will be tough enough to tolerate conditions in the greenhouse. If not, this hybrid between V. cristata and V. falcata
should be a bit hardier. The flower will be interestng if the plant ever grows big enough to produce one.
The plant did well through the winter of 2021 but a very severe radiation frost in December 2021 killed it. It would probably have survived with overhead protection or under the bench.
