A small growing hybrid between Vanda falcata and Vanda miniata first raised by Masao Yamada in 1960.
Vanda miniata is a warm growing species from Malaya, Sumatra, Java and the Philippines so I didn't have strong hopes for its survival in the greenhouse
however it grew strongly through the summer and flowered. Unfortunately it was killed in an unexpected radiation frost in December 2022. Krull Smith say: "Vanda Twinkle is a great hybrid that is known for being particularly floriferous. Plants are able to get twenty flowers per inflorescence with one well known example being V. Twinkle 'Orchidglade' which was exhibited with two thousand two hundred and sixty two flowers! These will range from yellow to deep orange. These will clump readily to create massive specimens with time." |
