Poor little plant. I have been growing it since 1985, here, there, never quite settling down before it is moved again. It is finally starting to grow and has managed to produce flowers.
It is small, it isn't vigorous and it doesn't flower freely. Trees and Shrubs online says: "Viburnum farreri 'Nanum' is a compact cultivar that typically grows to only 60 to 120 cm tall and as wide over time. From late autumn to early spring [it} produces tiny, fragrant, light pink flowers in panicles. Flowers ... survive temperatures to about –6degC, but freeze in colder temperatures. These are followed by fruits which mature from scarlet to black from mid-summer to autumn. The emerging new leaves ... are sometimes reddish purple, together with the petioles and new shoots." |
