An attractive white form, the flowers have the slightest hint of pink about them. Covers the ground vigorously, and suppresses casual weeds, although the most determined will get through.
It is an attractive but moderate plant. Descriptions online praise its charms in imply it will make a carpet of white flowers in spring. It won't. Moderate and charming. Mount Venus Nursery say: "A white-flowering periwinkle. This trailing evergreen perennial which roots where it touches the ground forming a tough ground cover and capable of clambering over rocks and roots and other hard edges. A very tolerant plant which will grow in almost any locations and will cope with root pressure once established. A very long flowering period, primarily in late spring but continuing throughout the year." Chris Adam says: "'Alba' came with the garden, in an area about five meters square! As with all V. minor cultivars it will grow in dense shade but only flowers well in part shade or full sun. A double variant of this plant is listed in old literature but I have not been able to obtain it." |
