Viola odorata 'Red Queen'

A deep purple red. At its best it is reddish, but more usually rich pinkish purple. I bought it from St. Brigid Nurseries and their label says: "Heart shaped dark green leaves. Sweetly scented purplish red flowers from late winter to early spring" Sometimes I get the feeling that people who write catalogue descriptions haven't actually seen the plant. Roy Coombs says: "'Red Queen' (1958). Deep crimson-purple 72A. It has been described as a red form of 'Coeur d'Alsace'." |
