Back in the days when bold souls trundled the roads of Mexico collecting seed of this and that (1980's)
I was sent a small packet of a Yucca from Ramos Aripze. This is what came up and it has been
growing slowly ever since. It now sits in the Agave house and I suspect it is a common species that I
am simply too ignorant to identify at this size. One day I will be visited by someone with sufficient
experience and the riddle of identity will be solved. Ramos Arizpe is a town in the Saltillo metropolitan area, in the state of Coahuila (Wikipedia). Photos on the internet show Yucca filifera around the town, but not well enough to allow identification (my plant is still comparatively young). |
