Thats enough introduction - on with the plants!

... out in the garden.
12th January 2008
Helleborus x hybridus Apricot Collarette .
The Hellebores are building up a display around the place - every day a new clump starts to flower. I used this apricot collarette form
as a parent plant last year for a new generation, and so I'm hoping for plenty of germination (any day now) in the seed trays. Seedlings
from four years ago are opening up in the woods, but it is far too windy today to go up for a look - mostly they have been
rather inferior so far, but there is always hope!
12th January 2008
Ipheion uniflorum 'Charlotte Bishop' .
This Ipheion has been in flower for a few weeks now, but the early flowers were very pale. None of the others have even got buds on them yet, and this one is
only just showing its true colours.
12th January 2008
Cyclamen coum .
In the greenhouse it has been in flower for about three weeks, but they all look rather dull compared with this first flower under the trees.
The bright magenta purple flowers seem to look best emerging through last autumns leaf litter. The rounded silvered leaves are also emerging,
but they aren't thick enough yet to cover the ground.
12th January 2008
Iris 'George' .
The first of the 'reticulata' Iris to flower this year, 'George' has been open for about a week, and I have taken a string of equally awful pictures of it,
this is about the best of a bad lot! There are a number of other forms bursting from the ground, and they open flowers very quickly once the buds
are visible, so there may be a lot more by next week.

I have a lot of good intentions when it comes to updating this site, and I try to keep a note
about what is going on, if you are interested.
