One of John Wrights' very early hybrids, involving F.excorticata and F.magellanica in the mix. I have it in the front garden, where it has grown into a large
shrub with rich brown peeling bark and dressed throughout the year with rich purple and red flowers. A very lovely thing.
A second generation seedling of the hybrid F. magellanica var. molinae x F. excorticata named in 1985.
('Whiteknights Amethyst' is the first generation hybrid).
