A spectacular species from the European Alps, I have killed it before on several occasions. It is said to prefer
moist, silghtly acidic conditions but I think it also benefits from a severe winter chill. I cannot easily
achieve that. In ther last couple of years I have had some slight success growing it in the hydroponic alpine bed
however it is too early to be overly confident.
