A winter growing bulb from the Cape Province of South Africa. It is more or less hardy but requires
overhead cover to keep it dry, the flower clusters are vulnerable to botrytis in the cold weather of November and December.
The genus is now included in Lachenalia but these few species are significantly more frost tolerant.
