Meconopsis is a genus of impossible appeal. I have grown a few but they have a short life expectancy. I have considered building a little shaded shelter to make a perfect environment for a bed of the blue ones but it's a busy life and although they are beautiful, I can extract as much entertainment by moaning about their intractability.
Fortunatley there is an easy one. The Welsh Poppy may be a native in Cornwall or it may just be naturalised. Whichever is true, it arrived here under its own steam and I am hoping it will persist here on the same basis.
This is the glowing yellow form. There is an orange one that doesn't shine like this but manages to make orange seem subtle and cool.
