27th October 2006

A form of Nerine sarniensis, I was surprised by the depth of colour when it flowered, so I think the name may be open to question. Originally it was raised by Harrison in New Zealand and Tony Norris describes it as:
"Pale pink (55D), with a deeper pink midrib stripe and stamens of salmon (52C)."

At about the time that was written I was growing this bright orange splodge of delight from dutch bulb growers. Decades later I am still growing it. Sometimes I have mixed feelings, the colour can be rather bold, but even wrongly named, it is a jolly good thing. It is sturdy and vigorous with shortish flower stems.
