Petasites is a surprising genus, though they almost all have the ability to spread wildly and need to be watched carefully.

I was expecting this to be some sort of leafy spreading thing with rather nondescript leaves, so this hairy purple foliage was a wonderful surprise.

I managed to divide the plant in spring this year. It has been very tolerant of drought in a pot, and I can now confirm that it is not very tolerant of wet conditions!
I managed to force it into early dormancy, and I'm hoping it isn't anything more serious than that.
Unfortunately, that was the last I saw of it. I am kicking myself for losing something so gorgeous.
